everything update | respite game (21 dec 2024 - 13 jan 2025)

if you've ever wondered why progress on the game so far has been very scattered, that's because otherwise i would get nothing done.

anyway, i took a small break because i realized that if i want to continue progress, i have to do a bunch of things, including but not limited to:

  • model furniture and decoration
  • make sprites, textures, and other images
  • write character dialogue, flavor text, and stuff
  • and also all the other lore so the dialogue and flavor text all make sense

all of which are outside of roblox studio. which unfortunately means that it isn't much of a break as it is just... me putting everything off.

so around this time, my blender decided that it did not want to be opened, which was a problem considering quite a large chunk of the things i needed to make were 3d models. thankfully, i have resolved this issue, and now the biggest problem is trying to find the motivation to begin.

here are some other things i did:

  • finished and imported the x button and water textures into the game. the kitchen sink now looks less like fairy dust and more like actual water.
  • added doors
  • also added code to doors. now they move instead of you just phasing through them
  • started basement
  • started modeling garden tree. now i have to figure out how i'm going to add the leaves and stuff, considering it's a fricking willow tree.
  • so when i imported the tree it isn't visually loading. the tree Is Actually There, the meshpart is there, the model is there, the collision is there when i playtest, it just doesn't appear on the screen. but after looking up solutions i restarted studio and everything is fine now (hopefully).
  • started working on the flowers
  • realized how tiny forget me nots are
  • decided to just ignore it. it's tomorrow me's problem now.

plans

  • ideally lighting would go last. this is because i would like to build the whole thing first before doing all the visual effect stuff. it's kind of like adding a filter to a finished piece i think.
  • figure out how i'm going to do the basement decor, but most importantly what significance it has to the plot
  • and complete everything else
